Smart Blood Pressure Monitor

Background

Designing devices for home use presents the challenge of building a product that’s medically accurate and can be clinically validated, with the additional task of making sure it’s attractive to the eye and easy to use. Our experience here was vital to the Qardio mission to improve the lives of individuals, families, and HCPs.

The goal was a wearable device, sampling biometric data for chronic conditions such as cardiovascular, COPD (lung disease) and diabetes. The Blood Pressure Monitor contains a digital automated sphygmomanometer which measures blood pressure at the arm of the user with a standard oscillometric measurement method. The iPhone application then establishes BLE pairing, receives and stores data locally using iOS Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 4.0) API.

Our approach centred on creating an empowering product experience. The team focussed on all user touch points to ensure the product experience was simple, seamless and in harmony with the body. The result is a stylish monitor that ticks all these boxes, setting the standard in personal healthcare management.
